Weak punishment and the problem of speeding assholes

The fine for stealing goods worth up to £200 or causing £500 worth of property damage is the
standard and ineffective £80 fine, frequently dished out for drunken disorder. What the very FUCK? So who pays the rest... the poor victim. Even if he or she has insurance, it's still so much hassle and does nothing to sooth the anger and pain.

Another example of weak punishment this week: he was known to be speeding (48mph in a 30mph limit area) in a stolen car; he was known to not have insurance; he was known not to have a full driving licence. He failed to stop and failed to report an accident. He left a three year old girl dying in the road (she later died in hospital). But he prays for her every day...so hey it's ok they can just give him 12 pathetic weeks (the current maximum is 6 months, also pathetic). This insults me so much. I don't know the exact details, I've just extracted what I can from the shocked media. But if there is a solid explanation for this, then I would need to hear it.
There is some talk of changing the death by careless driving laws. It seems quite clear to me, that when a man (and it's always men) decides he is going to speed, whether to impress his mates or fill his worthless need to rebel or like in this case because he stole a fucking car, then he accepts right there and then that he has a much greater chance of hurting or killing someone. He takes the risk and should be ready for harsh consequences; only currently he will get very little in the way of punishment.
I witnessed a car speed through a city centre near me. There were people (well, except police people) everywhere. He did not slow down at the corner; clearly not knowing who was crossing beyond at that point. I would say his chances of killing someone were frighteningly high.
Another time when I was walking back from work, suddenly a car backed up at speed right in front of me from a small side road nestled between two terraced houses. Just a muddy side road leading down to a garage business. There is no way that man, with his music blaring, would have known if anyone was walking by on this significantly busy area near a university. What if a child had been there or a pedestrian simply deep in thought, slow to react.

What I have never understood is why cars are made with the capability to go so damn fast.

And what did he, Mr Hussain, get for stealing the car... 4 weeks.

Oh the poor poor children! Prison Reform idiot woman speaks.

Director of the Prison Reform Trust Juliette Lyon says children are being failed by the prison system and they invariably end up re-offending.
Cases where children needed to be restrained should be the "rarest of rare events", she told BBC News.
"Although children have behaved badly and some of them committed terrible crimes, although that is a minority, they're still children," she added.

Oh the poor poor children. Things are so bad for them. Oh we must run to their aid. Yeah, they sure are so vulnerable as they kick someone's teeth out. Why are they being restrained Julie Lyon? Think about that. Because they are not being good boys; they are being violent... hence restraint. What is the guard supposed to do, whip some pocket money out of his ass and send the youth on his merry way. 'Would you awfully mind going back to your cell...please....no please do stop kicking my head, if you don't mind, that is."

If the "children" don't like the way they are treated, then maybe they should not have been worthless assholes in the first place and got themselves banged up. And let's face it, you have to be pretty bad to get locked up in this soft-assed country. I hate the way these kind of people always use the word 'children'. A 17 year old youth is not a child. A 17 year old knows the difference between right or wrong. There are two choices in life: make something of yourself and contribute to this world in some tiny way, or be an asshole. Assholes need discipline and order, and sometimes restraint with a little force is all they understand. There must be serious consequences and severe punishment for all who constantly infringe on another's right to live in a civil land, whether this be as low as ignorant pathetic youths throwing stones at passers-by; idiots driving fast in stupidly loud boombox vehicles around populated areas; or the higher problems of violent drunks and gangs.

The Smoking Ban

So some people will not vote for the Government next election because they banned their precious little death sticks that they got all addicted to. Sad fools. Ahahahahahahah etc.

I look forward to the clean pubs and restaurants. Let's face it non-smoking areas were not too effective at keeping away smoke. I also look forward to returning home without my cloths and hair stinking of someone else's exhaled shite crud.

Blair... sometimes he is alright. But he still fears the blind crazy PC zealots and the ragingly liberal fanatics far too much. I suppose he knew the quiet and long suffering tolerant majority would be with him on this one.

Embrace ID cards you fools!

The paranoid people that are saying this is some sort of big brother operation being carried out by the Government make me want to scream in rage much like this: yeearruuurghhhhh! The Government know what they need anyway in most cases. ID cards just make it easier to deal with the more shadier individuals with plenty to hide; and the growing problems with identity fraud.

It is a convenient card. If you are over 18 but look younger and constantly get asked for ID when buying alcoholic drinks, then no need to be carrying around your comparatively bulkly passport or driving licence. Its usefulness will soon become apparent.

Many other countries use them in Europe and stand by them. They have proven essential in Hong Kong against illegal immigrants from the mainland. And with Britain standing out more so than many countries with ID cards as a target for terrorism, I think every little bit helps.

Chantelle is successful? Please...nooooooo! Whhhyyy? YaaaaauuurgghhH!

In today's Sun they have a double page article about Chantelle lookalikes. Chan-fucking-telle lookalikes! Sweet mother of mercy. God help my country.

Birmingham... where is your Glory?

Birmingham's landmark Bullring statue has been vandalised again. A youth was caught on CCTV but identifying him is near impossible thanks to that amazing tool – the hood.
You see, Birmingham, you can never be a world class city; you can never attract hordes of excitable rampaging tourists until you sort out the litter, the wretched youths and gangs and the mostly miserable and/or ill-trained customer service personnel (even in such big-name stores as Selfridges). No easy feat I know, and a problem faced by many cities in this crap country. Birmingham is NOT pleasant to walk around, no matter how many executive-style apartments and stupidly expensive restaurants you slam down near the centre, whilst leaving the outer areas to rot and fuel resentment. More and more kids will come crawling from their neglected lairs eager to deface that statue of a big bad-ass bull; pride of Brum.

Welcome to Britain

Once the Japanese have finished laughing when they see our "king" size prawns...the next thing they fall over with laughter about is our absolutely pathetic excuse for a train system. It is truly and utterly rubbish. Luckily they don't get to see these smaller stations covered in litter and general excrement.

Something rare

A real sentence for Damien Hanson, the man who killed the banker John Monckton. A minimum of 36 years the BBC story states. I hope that will indeed be the case, as it should always be.

However, this is a unique case because Hanson was released early from a previous violent incident, by an idiotic decision made by some cuckoo land freak. His chance of reoffending was known to be quite high. And so a father died, a mother almost died, a family wept and Hanson ended up back in prison with ample food.

Most murderers in this country will not receive such a worthy sentence.

"Wearing a balaclava and armed with a gun and a knife Hanson burst into the house, stabbing Mr Monckton in the heart and lung, and his wife twice in the back. "

"The sight which confronted the girl (their 9 year old daughter) is almost impossible to imagine but she is a very brave girl and at her mother's request she rang 999 and closed the front door and put on the chain."

Happiness

Happiness, it is said, is the key to long life. Wealth brings happiness (with a few notable exceptions). And it's true that wealthy people live longer. But it works other ways too, if you are a person beaming happiness day to day (we all know one or two) then you work your way up in the world far more successfully. Ragingly happy people are more sociable; make better contacts; gain attention and opportunities. People like to be their friend. Maybe you think that little bit harder when choosing a present for them, imagining their overjoyed reaction; their smile. However, sadly, I find being ragingly happy all the time very difficult. My boss is. He is stupidly happy sometimes (and he earns fuckloads more than me). Most people around me at work join the British way and moan their fucking arses off and bad mouth all they can; resenting anyone who earns more than them or gets the overtime offers or makes the decisions. Walking around my City, a worryingly large amount of people look miserable and/or intimidating (especially youths with issues). In certain circles, you will find the happiest and loveliest people. But no, I have happy times but I hate so much shit about my own country that true happiness is a little too far out of my reach sometimes. Selfish mayhaps.

ps Central trains please hurry up and fall under, so that maybe a better company can come along and offer a decent service who actually get their drivers to work weekends and manage better than your appalling on time rate. At least send your top guys to Japan to take some notes. No...must...be... happpiiiiiiii.

The Queen and her Rewards

Why are some people against The Queen giving out rewards. A guy I respect, JG Ballard, refused a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) honour. He told the Sunday Times that we are no longer an empire and so why accept; it makes us a laughing stock and encourages deference to the crown (Dec 2003). There is nothing wrong with a little deference, something the people of Britain lost some time ago at many different levels (youths for example, miserable customer service personnel). The Royal family is Britain and represent all its amazing, fascinating (and sometimes scary history). What is wrong with celebrating a rich history and since the royal powers have been greatly decreased it is even more necessary than before. She simply rewards and appreciates, by public praise, those who deserve it like Ballard for his literature contributions. It is a completely positive thing, as long as those darn politicians don't interfere.

Holding the Door Open

Where I currently work it is VERY important to hold the door for approaching others, or the consequences may mean loss of face, demotion or even death by spoon. I have to admit sometimes a woman holds the door for me and I barge on through without insisting 'No, you first (cause your a weak girly and I must hold the door for you and stick out me manly man-chest with peks/be a gentleman etc)'. Why? Because I'm not sure that matters anymore. Do women want that these days? This really quite attractive girl held the door for me and gave me a lovely smile and I was tempted to say 'Nooooooooo!...You first, I insist (you angel from the very heavens above......woof woof...meooow awooooooo...hubba hubba etc)', but I just walked on though saying my thanks with a nod of the head. I was left wondering did I do the right thing. Am I old-fashioned at 25? I do see other men insisting the woman walk on through first, even though she has already used the energy necessary to prop the door open anyway. Other women seem to enjoy the fact a man holds the door for them, smiling and clearly thanking him. Some don't even acknowledge you (die man-scum). I guess it just depends on the individual.

Come to think of it why am I even writing about this...I mean people are dying in Africa and people are wearing Armani watches and Tony Blair and Tessa are shite.

Centro be shit...darrrgh matey

Yes, Centro are shit. Guy at Telford Central service point told me the train was direct to New Street, as did the shitty Centro website. But then he said 'as far as he knows', as he took all my money. Driver tells us no direct trains today when the train arrives 10 minutes late: two fucking filthy carriages for a million people and a change at Wolverhampton for what should just be simply a 35 minute direct journey. Both trains packed. How can they charge so much for the absolute minimum in service. I don't wanna list my long histroy with Centro and their shocking idea of service. I have lost count of the times I have had to wait for a stupid coach cus the train have been cancelled at weekends. Just look at their latest punctuality rates. A late train, even by a few minutes, should be a rare thing. They are just so very very....very shit. The guys at the top of this company need to take a trip to Japan and take some notes methinks.

Punishment in the UK smells like Elderberries

I took these comments from the BBC Have Your Say site during the brief bringing back to the frontline of punishment as an issue, and the nature of life sentences in particular. Of course, I have always believed in harsh punishment (not just non-deterrant, pathetically small fines all the time) and seriously frown upon some of the Liberty groups opinions. So the few chosen are bias towards my own views. Well the first one is here because it amused me. I guess I am so very tired of constantly reading about criminals on all levels of violence/property damage getting off so damn lightly.

"I just went to the possible future where New Labour stay in power for 30more years. The news reporter read, on a rather futuristic hologram emitting TV, 'crime and killing is now legal! Those damn victims..send THEM to jail!'. The news reader then shot his co-host. Seriously, this relentless fear of strong punishment on the 'poor' criminal is sending us down the pathway to madness."

"Murder is the deliberate taking away of an innocent human life. To seek to differentiate between "different types" of murder/homicide is illogical, unjust and can only serve to make decisions on taking away human life that bit easier for the criminal. After all, with the proposed multi levels of homicide, a clever barrister/lawyer will vastly reduce the chances of a criminal being given a maximum sentence."

"Why change? The current system takes a headline sentence, divides by two, subtracts good behaviour and tagging options, hence ensuring the liberal elite, and associated minority groups are happy for another year. We put criminals first, second and third, with victims(actual or the long suffering law abiding tax payers) last."

"I worry greatly about these people that think we should have compassion when sentencing cold-blooded murderers. If these people gain real power and influence then they will be more dangerous than any murderer out there."

"Why not invent a way of resurrecting the dead consequently no one would be charged of murder and the prisons will be empty. This a win win situation prison reformers should adopt forthwith"

"There are 4 possible justifications for imprisonment:
1. prevention
2. rehabilitation
3. deterrence
4. retribution
The first 3 are sensible and self-explanatory. But most posters here concentrate purely on retribution which is a far more complicated concept. Please think about why you feel this need to punish someone - in most cases, it seems based only on a vague sense of 'righteous' hatred. It says far more about you than about the crime in question. Where is the compassion?"

"The real problem is we've got too many hand-wringing bleeding hearts like (one above) of Bristol who's main concern is empathy and love for the murderer. Retribution is a justifiable and understandable desire when a loved one has been taken from you in the cruellest of ways. It would be interesting to see just how tolerant and understanding you are when it's your Mother / Father / child etc who's life has been callously cut short."

Where is the compassion the lady above asks? Should we find within ourselves compassion for murderers and child rapists; try to understand them, make them "better" and set them free. We should have compassion for people that know nothing of what life is truly worth and take it away leaving big empty holes. Should we push aside the victim's family and nourish the criminal at great expense and effort. No, but sadly that seems to be way favoured by those that influence/make the decisons. But, hey, maybe they do know best, for fucks sake. I'll just go play a video game.

Is Everything Shit?

'Is It Just Me or Is Everything Shit' by Alan McArthur (another life in Britain bashing book much like 'Crap Towns') is the 7th best selling book on play.com. Waterstones have reported good sales on this book too. Interesting.

The horrendous killing of Mr Morley

No it was murder, not manslaughter. After a stupid amount of time we finally have a verdict. A damned weak verdict for a weak country. I just hope they do their time in full....the little shitbags.

Big Brother's Chantelle

What a bunch of shite. I have expressed some interest and watched the occasional showing but damn... why vote for and consequently humour the low brainpower idiot. Oh wait because everyone adored her. Just great. It would seem the British TV loving public can't get enough of these bints... just look at what that wretched Jade 'What is Asparagus?' Goody has achieved. She has made so much money from being nothing but a...well a big nothing special whatsoever...God help my people. And now Chantelle's stupid face and boobs are plastered across a range of male and female magazines, and she has so much cash I bet she has no idea what to do with it.

Current Affairs: Phil Carroll

On the 13th May 2005, a 49 year old man called Phil Carroll was punched so hard that he fell to the ground hitting his head to stone. A blood clot formed. He underwent surgery in which part of his brain had to be removed, and then he fell deep into a coma for 18 days. When he was eventually discharged from hospital he said later:
"It has made me very angry and bad-tempered. I don't remember bringing my children up, it has been very hard for me. I just have no interest in anything or anyone. I remember being at the birth of my first son and my first daughter, the other two I don't remember."
I have heard of other men that were not so lucky and just died at the beatings of foolish ignorant aggressive youth. Phil lives on, albeit limited. So why did Phil end up like this. Because he sought to defend his home and family from yobs who for no good reason simply decided to throw stones at him and his car. I guess he just wanted to reason with them, but instead ended up almost dead.
The scumbag that did this to Phil got 12 months in a detention centre, whatever that is. In fact, he will only actually be retained properly for just 6 months. And they call this punishment. No one will learn from this. I wish the 16 year old who did this, Michael Kuba-Kuba, a most miserable life thereafter.
